About

The story of

Colleen Murphy

Colleen Murphy is a proud mother of three, a children’s book author and a lifelong poet. Ever since she can remember she has expressed herself in rhyme. Her oldest memory is of writing (and singing) about the “Ding-a ling-man,” aka, the ice cream truck driver. Over the years, Colleen’s poems evolved into stories and eventually, rhyming picture books. Apples, Cheese, Salsa, Please represents a realization of a dream and what she hopes will be her first of many publications.

Colleen is also the leader for a Making Room for Rhyme critique group, as well as a co-administrator for its umbrella organization, which is constantly welcoming new members and presently, eleven critique groups strong.

Colleen’s work and educational history – CPA, JD, and retired middle school math/English teacher — reveal her pursuit of lifelong learning. That pursuit is one that drives her storytelling and one she hopes to pass on to her readers.

Beyond rhyming and writing, Colleen thoroughly enjoys playing pickleball, strumming the ukulele, singing, drawing and running. Currently she lives in Sanford, North Carolina with her husband, near her current sources of inspiration and all-around-feel-good vibes, her three grandsons.
